How do Probiotics support oral health?

Our mouths are host to billions of microbiota. Common problems, like dental cavities, bad breath, gum disease, sore throats, and earaches, are often a result of invasive oral bacteria.

Even though most of us practice good oral hygiene on a daily basis, such as brushing teeth, flossing, and using mouthwash, the benefits are often temporary—and in some cases may even disrupt the balance of beneficial microorganisms in the oral cavity.

Science has just begun to gain a more thorough understanding of the importance of microbes in the mouth and upper respiratory tract, and their link to overall health. While oral probiotics are still relatively new to the market, there is strong clinical evidence that daily supplementation can reduce tooth decay and significantly improve ear, sinus, and throat health in kids and adults. With three times as many targeted strains as the top-selling brand and clinically proven BLIS K12 and BLIS M18, our NatureWise Oral Health Probiotics are at the forefront of emerging oral probiotic technology.*

Who should take Oral Health Probiotics?

Our NatureWise Oral Health Probiotics is effective for kids & adults.

How many CFUs does Oral Health Probiotics contain?

Our Oral Health Probiotics includes strains for advanced teeth and gums protection, and to support ear, sinus, and throat health. It contains 3 billion CFU at time of manufacture, and a minimum of 1 billion CFU at expiration.

What strains are targeted to oral health?

S. salivarius is one of the most beneficial bacteria found in the mouth—but not all strains exert the same powerful benefits. NatureWise Oral Health Probiotics contains BLIS K12 and BLIS M18: specialized strains that produce antibacterial molecules, called “BacteriocinLike Inhibitory Substances,” with the unique ability to target “bad” bacteria in the oral cavity. Once BLIS strains enter the mouth, they attach to cells in the oral cavity and begin to colonize, crowding out undesirable microbes.*

Does Oral Health Probiotics support the immune system?

The mouth is an entry point for pathogens to enter the body, and the beneficial bacteria that live there serve as our first line of defense against invasive microorganisms, like viruses, fungi, and harmful bacteria. A healthy balance of oral bacteria is key to good dental health, but it’s also a vital component of immune health.

Does Oral Health Probiotics help with bad breath?

Bad breath is often caused by the breakdown of proteins by undesirable bacteria in the oral cavity. Odiferous species, such as P. ginigvalis and F. nucleatum, produce malodorous byproducts known as volatile sulfur compounds (VCS). While mouth rinse and chewing gum may temporarily mask the odor, NatureWise Oral Health Probiotics inhibits the bacteria responsible for bad breath to help promote long-lasting fresh breath.*

How does Oral Health Probiotics affect ear, sinus, and throat health?

ENT complaints are one of the most common reasons for doctor visits. If the balance of oral bacteria is affected by stress, antibiotics, or exposure to pathogens, it can quickly lead to a sore throat, earaches, or upper respiratory infections. Naturewise Oral Health Probiotics begins working in the mouth to boost natural immune defenses and help promote ENT and upper respiratory immune health in both children and adults.*

How does Oral Health Probiotics protect teeth and gums?

NatureWise Oral Health Probiotics protects tooth enamel and soft tissues from lactic acid produced by invasive microbes. Micro-organisms responsible for dental plaque and cavities, like S. mutans, also produce lactic acid, which can erode tooth enamel. Our formula contains clinical strains with unique enzyme-producing abilities to break up dental plaque, neutralize acid, and help protect teeth from bacteria that cause tooth decay. Together with good oral hygiene, NatureWise Oral Health Probiotics provides advanced protection for teeth and gums.*

Does it need to be refrigerated?

Our Oral Health Probiotics does not need to be refrigerated. It is guaranteed viable with live, active cultures up to expiration, and we ensure exceptional shelf-life stability—even at room temperature. To maximize potency and extend the shelf life beyond 18 months, we recommend storing your probiotics in the refrigerator.
